x365: 48 of 365: the neighbour who killed my cat

You are one my first memories. I was two years old. We lived on the second floor of the house on Vernon Street. My father answered a knock on the front door and I saw you standing there, holding a cardboard box. I think this may be yours, you said. I can't remember anything after that, but apparently you had left the hood of your car up and Macavity had crawled in. I don't remember Macavity at all - only you, holding out a box at our door.

oh that's so sad.

Science says that memories are burned into our brain when they are accompanied by bursts of adrenaline. This was probably our first burst.

wench - I was probably pretty sad at the time. There's no real emotion attached to the memory, but when I wrote this entry I suddenly pictured what the cat might have experienced. I couldn't get to sleep until I convinced myself that the cat had been electrocuted immediately and therefore had felt no pain. I don't know if that would be possible, but it got me to sleep.

lotus07 - That's an interesting idea. When you say "our" first burst of adrenaline, I'm going to assume you meant "your" first burst. Otherwise, either you're crazy or we're the same person.

marie - Agh! Hell is other people. Someone poisoned my dog with strychnine when I was ten or so. Fortunately we got her to the vet in time.

I love the fact that your cat was named Macavity.

Speaking of musical theatre, did you see they're releasing a movie of Sweeney Todd? I'm intrigued. We may have to schedule a field trip, yes?

In our family, most of our cats were named after T.S. Eliot characters. We had two MacAvitys, a Jennyanydots, and a Sweeney. We also had a Mrs. Tibbits, who I think was named after a brand of paint ("Tibbits Is Tough" was the slogan).

I'm looking forward to the Sweeney Todd movie. Whenever it shows up in theatres, we should definitely go.

Thats what makes me angry some times is that animals cant look after them selfs like people, and people just dont look around and think about the fact that there are animals on streets too not just children!
